Goals and Objectives of my Presentation:
I designed, and coded the OCSAT (Online Course Skill Assessment Test) software tool, using Visual Basic as the programming language. I developed this software tool in Fall of 2002 in order to determine if a student wishing to register for an online course did indeed have the required computer skills and the study skills to succeed in his online course(s).
My software measured a student's knowledge and skills in using the the technology used by most online courses: World Wide Web, MS Word, email, Blackboard, MS Windows. It also measured if the student is capable of following instructions. I used this software at CIS/Telecom Dept. at the staring years of online course being offered through this department.

OCSAT as an Educational Shareware:
Having had success with using OCSAT at CCBC I decided to share the software tool I had developed with other educators at NISOD 2003. At the end of the my presentation I provided the educators who attended my session with a CD containing the OCSAT software tool, and the user manual.
A copy of the interfaces generated by this software (OCSAT) is available here.
