Curriculum Development, Years 1986-1990

New Curriculum:  Information Science/Business Applications:

This new curriculum was offered academic year from 1986-1987 through academic year 1989-1990. The curriculum included development of 5 new courses and revision of 3 courses. I was responsible for the development of 4 of these new courses and the revisions of 1 these courses.
 

This new curriculum provided students with training and skills in:

  • Use of microcomputers, the new technology being used at that time

  • Programming in CICS (Customer Information Control System), a new language used in businesses, especially in banks

  • Database concepts and database design/development

  • Programming in RPG, a language used in businesses

New Curriculum: Information Science/Telecommunications:
This new curriculum was offered academic year from 1986-1987 through academic year 1989-1990. This new curriculum made CCBC the first community college in the U.S. to offer a telecommunications curriculum leading to an associate degree in applied sciences.The curriculum included 3 new courses, which I was responsible for developing.

 

This new curriculum provided the students with training and skills in:

  • Telecommunications concepts and applications

  • WAN (Wide Area Network) software design, development, and maintenance using IBM mainframe computers.

  • Programming the middle-ware necessary to allow communications between IBM mainframe computers applications
